Cute things with Daddy
So Hubby was just about to walk out the door to pick up a few items at Costco; "Say Bye to Daddy" I told Little Guy and he walks to the door and then picks up his shoes and asks to go in the car! He's never done that before... of course Hubby couldn't resist... so my men left me alone to run errands.
While there Little Guy learned the wonder of the food demonstrators (apparently TOAST was a big hit) and then while looking through produce he named a lot of fruit and veggies for Hubby. He became especially fond of a pineapple... which he then told Hubby and anyone within earshot all about... "Pineapple starts with the letter P" and "Pineapple has spikes" and "Pineapple has leaves" and so on. I credit it to his amazing memorization skills of this book we checked out from the library.
Then later on at home we were enjoying the very same pineapple for dessert when I asked, "So how do you like your pineapple?" and got the completely random answer...
"I got a haircut!"
He just cracks me up!

The Laundry
I don't love the laundry, but I like it best when I do it. My shirts get hung right away, and so do Hubby's-so no ironing is needed : ) I watch for stains, things get folded just how I want them... yes, I am a bit of a laundry control freak... I have this beautiful laundry sorter that we got at Costco that was worth every penny (especially since I waited patiently 4 months for a $10 coupon on it!) plus I have this strict policy of 1 LOAD PER DAY , but somedays I still seem to miss something we need... like when hubby runs out of undershirts... I know I shouldn't feel as though I'm an inferior home maker for not sending him off in a pristine bleached white undershirt... but some how I do. So I made this:

I place it in the neatly folded stack of undershirts, then when there are just two left, he puts it on my nightstand-giving me just the time warning I need so I don't feel like I've fallen down on the job!
Thanks to Beckie for talking about her "Reminder Board" for reminding me about this handy idea!

A great day with my Little Guy
Today was not looking so good early on-I had a massive headache this morning and couldn't bear the thought of completing my chores or my errands... it was difficult just to be there for my boy. I was able to convince him to take an early nap and I got some rest at the same time. By the time he was up, I was restored; and then we had all this wonderful daylight ahead of us that we don't normally get! So after a quick lunch, we were off to the park to feed ducks, then the library to pick up new books, a viewing of a new DVD gave me the time to do those dreaded chores and errands, and then we wrapped up the evening with a wonderful cuddle watching Sesame Street Sleepytime Songs & Stories. I adore those times when he chooses to be on my lap and he just lets me love him; I pray for those moments to stretch as long as they can, and am thankful to the Lord for blessing me with those times.

Watching Baby Grow III

Here is Little Guy at 7 months. I rushed out to get these photos done since he just started to sit on his own only 2 weeks before. I'm really trying to savor how old he is already, which is why I'm posting his portraits one at a time like this. I often catch myself getting frustrated about how long it takes to do everything with him during the day, from getting dressed, to eating meals, to sitting on the potty, and I hate myself for it. I need to slow down and enjoy them for what they are, and not try to rush "the moments". Tonight I watched him trying to catch bubbles in the tub, and the look of pure joy on his face was a very good reminder of why I chose to be a stay at home mom.

Watching Baby Grow II

This is Little Guy at 5 months. I loved that little green sweater-his first "church clothes" which is funny if you've ever been to our church where casual is the norm. His Daddy was a soccer player in high school, so there's no question about which sport is in Little Guy's future! At this point he still looks a lot like me-poor me-I didn't get hair until I was 3 years old! That's me on the left, about 3 months old (nice 1970 photo quality).

Inauguration Day
I loved watching the ceremony this morning... I was extremely touched while Pastor Rick Warren was praying, I couldn't stop laughing at Aretha Franklin's hat (not to mention that there were MANY unusual hats in the crowd-???-or is it just me that noticed?), and I was glad to see President Obama stumbling over his words, it made seem quite human, and not just a figure. All in all, I thought it was a good day.
On a personal note, today the Little Guy got to eat Tater Tots whole for the first time... I wish I could have got a picture-he looked like a chipmunk with stuffed cheeks!
